Under Water Hockey (UWH)
|
UWH, also known as octopush, is definitely a sport you have to try at least once. UWH was invented in 1954 by Alan Blake. UWH started off as "octopush" as the sticks and technique used to push the lead puck along the bottom of the pool are different from those used today. UWH is played with 2 teams of 6 players each. The main objective is to push the puck into the opposition goals as quickly as possible. Equipment consists of a stick, diving mask, snorkel and gloves. Our practices take place on Mondays and Thursdays from 18:00 to 19:30 at the Wits University Main Campus pool. |
